Dear Ellis,

What is something you’re grateful for? I don’t mean the cliché “channel your inner thanks” kind of gratitude. I’m not even talking about being grateful for every little thing that comes to mind. I’m referring to the type of gratitude that stays with you - that continuously renews itself. It’s hard to describe, but when you experience it, you know you’ve found it.

There are a few things in my life that I’m deeply grateful for and our friendship is one of them. More specifically, I am grateful for you; what you’ve done for me; the way you’ve had a tremendous influence on my life; the way you and your family have shown love and kindness to me and my family.

I’m reminded of a quote from the film, Gladiator: “Brothers, what we do in life… echoes in eternity.” If eternity exists and we’re able to remember our time on Earth, I am certain that what you’ve done will echo in the walls of eternity where, forever, I’ll experience the gratitude I have today.

Ells, I am so grateful for you - for your loyalty, your friendship, wisdom, kindness, resilience, the way you inspire me, your work ethic, the way you transform dreams into reality, your heart for doing good, your integrity… Thank you!
